Parkway Picture Show (PPS), a project presented by Blanc Gallery, is invested in amplifying the work of emerging Black filmmakers. On September 30 and October 1, PPS will exhibit short films organized around the theme of exceeding our physical realities—portaling elsewhere. When the endurance that nurturing aliveness and intimacy demands on the day-to-day pushes us to our brink, film, as a medium, holds the capacity to transport us to alternate realities. This pop up show, imagined in response to Gertie’s commitment to strengthen Chicago’s art ecosystem, celebrates our filmmakers and invites our viewers to experience the redemptive, healing salience of film itself.
Featured artists and collaborators include: Mikey Alfred, Rohan Ayinde, Danielle DeGrasse Alston, Jalen Hamilton, Talia Koylass, Andre Muir, Faith Overall, Jasmin Taylor, Angela Townsend, and Sandy Film Festival.
Opening September 30, closing October 1.
Friday: 11-3
